Mauna Kea Shadow

What does this photo from the top of Mauna Kea that I took last winter have to do with Greenwell Farms?  Not too much, other than Greenwell Farms is on the same island.  It was really cold on top of Mauna Kea at the time, and I did very much enjoy my hot thermos full of 100% Kona Coffee from Greenwell Farms to warm me up.  As for this photo, I just wanted to share it with you.  I really like it for several reasons, and here are just a few.  I always enjoy seeing and visiting snow.  After I have my fill of “snow time”, it is always nice to go back to the eternal springtime and warmth in the Kona Coffee Belt.  To me, it is really interesting to see snow on top of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa.  After all, we are on an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and in the Tropics!  The most interesting feature of this photo is the shadow.  This shot was taken near sunset, so the shadow of Mauna Kea is very long.  I estimate about 50 miles long or so.  I hope that you enjoy this photo as much as I do.  Aloha and Mahalo.
